I bought this as a gift for my wife who has a MacBook Air and both an iPad and iPhone as a means of helping her keep her USB ports free and or not have to use multiple chargers. When she first tried it on her power adapter it wouldn't seat fully on the MacBook Air adapter plug and even when I tried it did not seem to fit completely on the charger so I just assumed it was not compatible with the Air and we dissapointedly repackaged it and I was in the process of returning it when I did one more check on the product description to see if it mentioned that it wasn't compatible with the Air. On the contrary the description said that it was compatible with ALL styles MacBook charger units. So I went back opened the package again and used much more pressure when sliding it onto the charger and it did finally seat completely and now seems to be working fine. I guess this is an example of needing brute force to make the thing work, normally when I try forcing something I end of breaking it ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well and looks good, but somewhat overpriced, March 16, 2012

1) Faster than charging using your Macbook's USB port.
2) Connects to either your Magsafe power adapter -OR- to an iOS wall charger (allowing you to charge two iOS devices at once off of one plug).
3) Looks good.
4) Keep it connected to your Magsafe when traveling for convenient packing.

CON: Overpriced - trading in on brand recognition and smart looking design to artificially inflate the price.

I bought the PlugBug a little over a year ago to work with my Macbook Air. At first I loved it. Great design, perfect fit, attractive finish. Which are fantastic qualities when we are talking about aesthetics alone. Except for the fact this device should DO SOMETHING. And for awhile, it did, it charged my iPad 3 and iPhone 4S numerous times.

But about a year after I bought it, it just would not charge anything via the USB. I tested it with multiple USB cables, and with multiple devices. Nothing was charging via the USB. I took out my multimeter to test the voltage, I got nothing. So what happened? Shoddy workmanship. I treated this thing like gold. My Macbook Air charges just fine, even through the PlugBug, but who cares? I had that functionally before I bought this thing. I bought it for the USB charging, and that is the part that does not work.

Twelve South could care less. After one year you are out of luck, and they have zero intention of providing a replacement for faulty hardware. I love Twelve South products, I love the thoughtfulness that goes into the design and their love for Apple products. That being said, I can't waste my money on products that are prone to fail.

If I knew they cared about customer satisfaction, I wouldn't be so afraid to buy their products. Don't spend your money on something that is going to break when you know they won't be willing to help you out. Just avoid the PlugBug.
